Mercedes Vito BlueEFFICIENCY
Mercedes Vito BlueEFFICIENCY
The Mercedes Vito BlueEFFICIENCY is a prototype truck hybrid that Mercedes has appeared on the Hall of Hanover, dedicated to commercial vehicles. By using an electric motor and batteries, reduced by 1.5 liters per 100 km consumption engine equivalent using only diesel.
It is not the only technology used for the reduction of consumption, the sixth of its ongoing manual keeps the engine at low revolutions at high speeds.
It also incorporates a start / stop that shuts off the engine at traffic lights, particularly interesting for urban delivery vans.
Aerodynamics is also a point that has been taken into account in this prototype. A van is always difficult to sell the air resistance, but they have improved a few points.
For example, carries a lower panel that covers low, some tires that reduce air resistance and mirrors have been sustuido by cameras that perform the same function (a little difficult to see in production a van).
In the future Mercedes intends to go one step further and use the electric motor to start the combustion of diesel, that is, optimizing the process to maximize the energy from fuel. This would enable it to download a total of 2 liters per 100 neamhni consumption of the Mercedes Vito.
This is the first step toward the "green vans" (low-lease), a fashion that has come to safer cars and will soon jump to commercial vehicles.
