The Octavia range grows with the arrival of a flexible engine based on the engine from 102 hp 1.6 and 8-valve, well known in the VAG group. But what is LPG? They are the symbol of liquefied petroleum gas, a mixture of butane and propane that is obtained from the distillation of petroleum, fuel is a more respectful of the environment.
The MPI 1.6 engine can run either on conventional gasoline with LPG, which is stored in a warehouse that remains a little extra space to boot (one of the largest segment) of 75 litres capacity. With this amount of LPG, can go 550 km, and with gasoline tank of 55 litres, autonomy is estimated at about 1,300 km. The benefits are the same.
Does any advantage? Yes, because at the level of pollutants emitted emits 15% less carbon dioxide, one-tenth of NOx and 99% less particulate matter than a diesel model. As for running costs, it is also very interesting, the problem is supply infrastructure outside the cities.
It is marketed in two levels of equipment, Active (18,000 euros) and Trend (18,800 euros). Skoda said it was very interesting to professional sectors such as taxi, which has a large presence in cities like Madrid. They are working with Repsol and the IDA to promote the use of this fuel, readily available and more healthy for the environment.
